Tempos sit at 120–125 BPM — slightly slower than peak-time techno — and arrangements unfold over longer stretches with patient transitions. Melodic techno overlaps significantly with progressive house and modern progressive trance, and dominates festival programming at events like Afterlife, Awakenings, and Tomorrowland's Atmosphere stages. Its emotional palette has made it the most commercially successful techno variant of the last decade.
