Born Sonny John Moore in Los Angeles, California, in 1988, Skrillex is a pivotal figure in modern electronic dance music. While he initially fronted the band From First to Last, recording two albums, his solo electronic career began to take shape in 2007. After releasing an EP in 2009, he adopted the Skrillex moniker and began to forge a distinct sound. His early releases, including his first EP in 2010, laid the groundwork for a career that would see him define aspects of future house and dubstep. This distinctive style, characterized by aggressive basslines and intricate sound design, quickly garnered attention, leading to releases on labels such as mau5trap and his own influential imprint, OWSLA. His debut studio album arrived in 2014, solidifying his status. Across his career, Skrillex has earned significant critical acclaim, including multiple Grammy Awards, cementing his reputation as a highly accomplished producer and DJ within the global electronic music scene.
